It is always great to have a goal in mind whether that goal is to be able to surpass a personal best at a particular exercise, or if it is to traverse a great distance across this great planet. Whatever that goal is, there is one little thing that you need to do to ensure that you are able to reach that goal--eat for it.
Many people that decide that they want to be able to bench press 300-pounds, or want to run a 5k marathon do not seem to take into account the food that they are dumping into their bodies because it makes all of the difference.
Let us take for example a man wanting to increase his personal best doing deadlifts. The first thing that anyone might do in this situation would be to search for a workout or a series of workouts to help reach that goal, and the last thing that anyone is searching for while doing that is a new pattern of eating that compliments it. If you are looking to build additional muscle then you have to eat to accommodate it. Burgers and pizza are not going to et the job done, it is going to take a self-made plan that fits the proper caloric intake with the right amount of protein and the right amount of healthy fats.
On the flip side of that coin, take someone that is training for a marathon race. The bulk of this training comes via the treadmill or the trails running various distances over a period of time. Here again, what you eat is vital to the success of you reaching that milestone. The difference in this situation from that of the body-builder is the fact that they would actually need more calories and a better juxtapostion of macro nurtients to fit the individual profile. That might mean eating more carbohydrates before a run, or it might mean eating more healthy fats for longer sustained energy.
The point here is that no matter what you are trying to do it is going to take more than just the physical training to help make sure that you reach those goals. A refined pattern of eating is essential to every single goal that has even been concocted. Even those people that do not have a goal should have a plan to either maintain or lose weight in order to be ready for a goal should one develop.
All of the training in the world will not stand a chance against a poor diet. No matter how hard you try you will always come up short without it.
